Virtuosos visits Qatar for the first time

Teenage prodigies Misi Boros and Soma Balázs-Piri perform at Katara and at the QMA

Two age group winners of the Virtuosos TV talent search show, sixteen-year-old Misi Boros and fifteen-year-old Soma Balázs-Piri performed at Katara Opera House on November 26th. It was the first ever visit of Virtuosos both in Qatar and also in the Gulf region in general. Attracting lots of interest, tickets were sold out within days.

Following the welcome speech of Ambassador Barnabás Fodor, the pianists gave an 80 minute concert which also featured compositions by world famous Hungarian composers Liszt and Bartók. Misi and Soma played solo and four-hands as well. Unsurprisingly, the performance ended with the V. Hungarian Dance by Brahms, and with the crowd's standing ovation.

The prodigies had a special appearance at Qatar Music Academy the following day, having a Q&A session and playing a few compositions too. The workshop was hosted by Mr. Ozgur Mert Esen, Head of the Western Music Department at QMA.
