The national commemoration of the unification of the State of Qatar is 18 December 1878. On that day Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani took over the leadership of Qatar from his father. According to tradition, Sheikh Jassim has successfully united the various tribes on the Peninsula against external invaders. As part of the commemoration of this noble event, girls chanted traditional songs and the boys performed a tribal dance called ardha.

Evidence of this is the recent event of the Doha International Conference on Disability and Development held in December, in which the Andras Pető Faculty for Conductive Development from Hungary also took part." said Ambassador Barnabas Fodor.
