Following Hungary's successfull performance at the 2018 edition of the European Jazz Festival, our country will be represented again at this year's event. The group is led by Mr. Béla Szalóky, who has been touring the world for 30 years. He has played in every Hungarian traditional jazz band; he is also a regular soloist at a number of jazz festivals. He performed in 32 countries, also together with stars like Scott Hamilton, Clark Terry, Carl Fontana, Warren Vaché and Scott Robinson.

The band was established in 2016. The word „Sundays” in their name refers to the band performing on Sundays in New York’s famous The Ear Inn: they share the same line-up and ars poetica. Originally, they only performed in Budapest’s If Café Jazz Club (obviously on Sundays) but by now, they are beloved guests of festivals and other events. They perform compositions of American classical jazz that can rarely be heard. Lesser known tracks of Fats Waller, Irving Berlin and other famous composers.

Szalóky Classic Jazz Sundays will take the stage at Katara on Wednesday, 6th of November at 7.45PM.
